River City Wrestling Awakening Results

Tonight River City Wrestling (RCW) presented Awakening at the Salvation Army Weetamah Gym at 324 Logan Avenue. Here are the results from everyone's favorite journalist, The GMB (Grand Master Blogger)

Opening Contest - Tryout Match: James Beaver vs. Leo London - Before the match began, fans started calling Beaver chicken. Beaver puts Leo in an armbar but Leo reverses it. Beaver reverses London's armbar and even bites his fingers until Leo tells James to look up and reverse it but then the Englishman puts London in a headlock. Next, James puts Leo in a full nelson until Leo does a roll-through but only gets a 2 count. In a test of strength James gets the upperhand but Leo delivers repeated kicks and a shoulderblock followed by a sunset flip for a 2. Beaver puts London down with a slam and a chokehold. Leo bounces back til James puts him down with a suplex but Leo kicks out at 2. Beaver chops Leo which is followed by an uppercut but misses an avalanche in the corner. This prompted Leo to deliver a flying bodypress to the outside. Back inside the ring, Leo delivers repeated uppercuts followed by an elbow for a 2. In the end however, Beaver got the win with a lariat.

Match #2 - Jay Walker vs. The Reaper - A collar elbow tieup and Reaper chops Jay. Reaper takes Walker down with a shoulder but Jay reverses it and clotheslines him for good measure. Reaper delivers shoulders as well as a knee to the gutt followed by a guttbreaker as well as an abdominal stretch but Jay bounces back with a clothesline and 10 punches til Reaper puts him down with a clothesline followed by a bearhug. With the fans solidly behind him, Walker would not give up as he took down Reaper with a flying bodypress into a DDT followed by a clothesline and an elbow. Walker tried to suplex Reaper but Reaper suplexed him onto the ropes followed by a spinebuster and a spear but only got a 2 count as Jay held the ropes. As Reaper got ready for a second spear, Jay countered with a sunset flip for the win. After the match, Jay got on the mic saying that Leo London deserves a second chance. So, Wayne Stanton decided to give London a second chance thanks to all the fans requests.

Match #3 - Tryout Match: Jackie Lee vs. Crimson Cross - This was a rematch from the Back To School Bash. A collar elbow tieup into a headscissors by Crimson but Jackie turns it into a cradle for a 2 count. Cross delivers a kick to the gutt but then the battle then takes place on the outside as Lee delivers an elbow off the wall. Back inside the ring, Cross delivers a russian leg sweep into a chinlock. Lee delivers repeated shots and chops but Crimson recovers with a dropkick but only gets a 2 count. Both men trade kicks with Jackie getting the upperhand until Cross delivers a shot to the back followed by a moonsault for a 2. Jackie delivers a jumping kick but then Crimson delivers a boot to the face. By now, Cross was getting frustrated and delivered a rollthrough for a 2. Next Crimson delivers a kick and a chokehold but then both men crashed and burned as a result of a double cross bodyblock. Lee takes down Cross with 2 clotheslines and a dropkick but only gets a 2. Jackie tries a GTS but Crimson kicks out at 2. In the end, Crimson Cross gets the win.

Intermission: Several wrestlers came out to sign autographs.

Match #4 - Prince Fuergo vs. Nacho Slurpee - Before the start of the match, both men engaged each other in a popularity contest. As Nacho ran off the ropes, the Prince put him down with a Rock Bottom for the fastest 3 count ever.

Match #5 - ''Sensational'' Billy Blaze vs. ''Bad Boy'' Buddy Wiser - Blaze begins the match with a poke to the eyes as well as a collar elbow tieup with Wiser getting the upperhand. Buddy puts Billy in a headlock but when he tried to take him down with a shoulderblock, both men go nowhere untl Wiser takes him down a second time but Billy recovers with a hiptoss. Next, Billy brought Wiser in the hard way. Buddy counters with a chokehold and 2 hard chops, but Billy turns the chops around repeatedly which is followed by a jumping kick in the turnbuckle followed by a belly-to-belly suplex. As Billy set up Bad Boy for the Blaze Of Glory, Wiser fell atop him but only got a 2. As Buddy tried to suplex Billy, Blaze turned it into a powerbomb but Wiser kicked out at 2. Blaze delivers a legdrop but again Wiser kicks out at 2. This prompts Wiser to deliver an avalanche and repeated punches but as he went up top, Blaze got up and tossed him across the ring and a top rope elbow for a 2. Next, both men go down as a result of a double clothesline. Billy gets to his feet first and takes Buddy over with a suplex but Wiser puts him down with a lariat for the win. After the match Wiser continued the assault until Leo London makes the save. This just goes to show you that Leo London belongs in RCW!!.

Match #6 - RCW Title Match - Scott Justice vs. Vinnie Valiant - Both men go at it from the opening bell fighting both inside and outside the ring with Scott getting the upperhand but Vinnie recovers wih an armdrag and a spinning heel kick followed by a sunset flip but only gets a 2. Justice recovers with a legdrop and a splash but only gets a 2. Next, Justice runs Valiant into the turnbuckle. Vinnie bounces back with punches but the Austrailian kid put him down by choking him with his boot and suplexing him for good measure. Scott delivers a knee to the guttt but Vinnie comes back only to be put down with a sidewalk slam. Scott takes a timeout only to get back in the match with a dropkick and other moves. Valiant delivered a slam of his own but got stopped on the top rope allowing Justice to deliver a DDT for a 2. With the fans solidly behind him, Vinnie would not give up. Scott chops Valiant and rakes the back. A sideslam by Scott only gets a 2. Vinnie comes back with a heel kick and a cross bodyblock for a 2. As Justice tried a powerbomb, Vinnie took him over the ropes with a hurricanranna.

Back in the ring, a Death Valley Driver from Scott was only a 2 count. Scott delivers a superkick and a bulldog. A second superkick and Vinnie grabs the ropes. By now, Scott was getting frustrated and grabs a chair. The referee tried to stop him from using it but Scott shoved the referee aside and whacked Vinnie with the chair for the win and become the RCW champ. Or, so we thought... a second referee came from the back and told the first referee to restart the match which they did. When it restarted, Valiant delivered his 450 Splash for the win and to become the RCW Champion.
